The Girl She Left Behind by Jo Bartlett Blogtour

A slightly different genre for Jo Bartlett, but if you're a fan give this moving book a read.
Synopsis
A family in turmoil...

Phoebe Spencer left home a long time ago, desperate to get away from her mother's emotional manipulation. She knows her life is better away from her family, but she can’t help feeling she’s simply running away from her problems…

Then Phoebe hears that her younger sister Lucy has disappeared, leaving behind her four-year old daughter, Darcy. Phoebe's certain Lucy will be back soon - she'd never leave Darcy alone - and then Phoebe can get on with her life again.

But as the days pass there's still no sign of Lucy, and everyone begins to fear the worst. Phoebe has to consider the terrible truth that Lucy might never come home. And as their mother makes it clear she wants to take control of Darcy’s life, Phoebe must do all she can to protect the girl her sister left behind – no matter the cost to her.

My Review
Phoebe gets the call to say her younger sister is missing and she's next of kin to her young niece, Darcy. But coming home is very difficult and takes a lot of courage, support and strength- Enter Jamie.
Phoebe and Lucy had a terrible upbringing and are both left with lasting emotional scars.

I loved Jamie and his understanding and his easy-going nature that brought such a calming influence. He was such a lovley character and an amazing support to both sister's- and Darcy too.

Phoebe's old (and new ) friends were such great characters, and everyone needs mom friends like that, espeically for Phoebe who had to learn how to be a momther to Darcy while healing from her own painful past and her worries that she'll do the same.

This was a tough read, a realistic read that covered very serious topics with sensitivity and compassion, and Jo Bartlett did a great job. It also offers healing vibes and hope to those in similar situations.
Be sure to check the trigger warnings before reading this.
